The house, belonging to Margaret and Peter Pigeon, is situated in the charming, hill-top village of Cairanne, beside the battlements of the Vieux Village, in the heart of the vineyards of the Southern Cotes de Rhone. Close to both Orange and Vaison-la-Romaine, and 30 minutes from Avignon, it provides easy access to the wonderful wines of Gigondas, Rasteau, Vacqueyras, and Chateauneuf-du-Pape as well as explorations to Arles, Aix-en-Provence, St. Remy de Provence, Les Baux, Isle sur-la-Sorgue, Mont Ventoux and many more sights You can enjoy the many walking trails available and explorations of Roman and Medieval monuments.
The fully renovated designer home provides 3 bedrooms, each with full ensuite bathrooms, plus a 2- piece bath on the main level. A large, state-of-the-art, well-equipped kitchen, opens to dining area and living room, with a classic French fireplace. A private, outdoor, walled courtyard, with eating area, barbecue, sunning area. Other amenities include in-floor heating, large LED television, DVD, with home cinema surround sound and wireless internet access. The two large terraces off the upstairs bedrooms provide spectacular panoramic views and outstanding sunset views.
The house is best suited for 2-3 couples.
We are a five minute stroll down the hill to the “new” Cairanne, where you will find bakery/patisserie, Café de la Place, newsagent, post office, doctor, excellent butcher, a well- provisioned general store, (Petite Jeanette) with friendly owners Guida and Robert. Especially appealing are two excellent restaurants,” Le Tourne au Verre”, and" Coteaux et Fourchette", newly renovated Cairanne wine co-operative (excellent wine available), and Cave Belevedere , representing most of the independent vignerons of Cairanne.
Many more excellent restaurants are available within a 5-15 minute drive. Full list available upon arrival.
This is primarily a wine village with many renown wineries only minutes away. Domain Richaud, featured in the Wine Spectator, is a five minute walk away, and Hautes de Cances featured by Cynthia Hurley is only two minutes down the hill. Cultural events, such as “Music in the Vines”, “Jazz in the vines”, “Bien Boire/ Boire Bien(wine/food tasting with presentation), are available activities for Spring,Summer,Fall visitors.
This is a non-smoking rental property.
RENTAL PERIOD : May 1st to September 30th, 2011. One week minimum. Saturday to Saturday.
RATES: $1800 CAD/US/1 week, $3000 CAD/US/2 weeks, $5000 CAD/US/1 month. Rates include final cleaning.
